Adopt a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application in <br />the amount of $400,000 for the California River Parkways Program for <br />the enhancement of Edna Park. <br />2. Adopt a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application in <br />the amount of $187,000 for the California River Parkways Program for <br />the enhancement of the 17th Street Site. <br />3. Receive and file Negative Declaration for Environmental Review No. 06- <br />170. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The California River Parkways Grant Program was established under the Water <br />Security, Clean Drinking Water, Coastal and Beach Protection Act of 2002. <br />The program provides funds for recreational acquisition, restoration, <br />protection and development of river parkways. Approximately $20.5 million <br />is available to fund projects during this grant cycle. <br />The City of Santa Ana will seek funding to enhance two sites identified in <br />the Santa Ana River Vision Plan: Edna Park and the 17th Street Triangle. <br />The proposed projects will improve the sites by installing native <br />landscaping, irrigation, and trail amenities such as bike racks, seating <br />areas, and interpretive signage. <br />55B-1 <br />
