REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />OCTOBER 1, 2007 <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />TITLE: APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF ^ As Amended s <br />SANTA ANA AND ORANGE FOR MAIN ^ Ordinance on 1 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />STREET REHABILITATION FROM WALKIE ^ Implementing Resolution <br />WAY TO NORTH CITY LIMIT ^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />f CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager to <br />execute an agreement between the cities of Orange and Santa Ana to <br />rehabilitate Main Street between Walkie Way and North City Limit. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Portions of Main Street between Walkie Way and the North City Limit are <br />within the City limits of Orange to the west and City of Orange to the <br />east (Exhibit 1). The Main Street pavement is deteriorating due to <br />weather, age, and heavy usage. The project will provide construction of <br />new street pavement and replacement of damaged concrete curbs, gutters, <br />sidewalks, and installation of wheelchair ramps and bus pads. <br />The City of Santa Ana has received a Federal grant from The Arterial <br />Highways Rehabilitation Program to rehabilitate Main Street. In order to <br />enhance ride quality and visual appearance of the entire street, Orange <br />has agreed to rehabilitate their portion of the street in conjunction <br />with the City of Santa Ana project and reimburse the City for <br />approximately 90 of the project cost. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />Environmental Review No. 2005-90 has been completed and a Categorical <br />Exemption has been filed for this Project. <br />25G-1 <br />
