Description of Work - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period. <br />What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Only the <br />viewable space will print. <br />The purpose of Laura's House 24-hour crisis hotline is to fill an unmet need in Orange County by providing an <br />immediate linkage to services for low-income battered women and their children who are in need of assistance and/or <br />shelter from domestic violence. <br />The crisis hotline objectives are as follows: <br />1. Provide access to crisis assistance in Orange County areas through use of our toll-free phone number. <br />2. Provide bilingual Spanish/English language services to Latina callers (23% of callers). <br />3. Provide intake into Laura's House shelter for callers requesting shelter. <br />4. Provide referrals to other partner shelters as necessary. <br />5. Provide information on domestic violence support programs that are available to victims. <br />6. Provide referrals to other local social services as requested. <br />7. Provide domestic violence information, safety planning and education. <br /> <br />Laura's House estimates based on prior years of service that 9% of the caller's assisted via our 24-hour crisis hotline <br />are residents of Santa Ana and are in the low/mod income range.
