<br />Orange County Conservation Corps <br />Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board <br />Request for Proposal <br />The Youth Service Provider Network <br />PY 2007/2008 <br /> <br />OCCC for six months will be able to participate in the full array of services and <br />programs offered by the OCCC. <br /> <br />How often will the WIA participant need to attend the proqram? (dailv/weeklv/monthlv) <br />WIA participants will attend the program daily, five days a week. All OCCC <br />corpsmembers including WIA participants are scheduled for 42 hours of work/school <br />each week; 32 hours of paid work experience and 10 hours unpaid of education/class <br />time. <br /> <br />Corpsmembers are scheduled to work 8 hours a day Monday - Thursday. OCCC <br />charter school classes are scheduled daily for one hour and a half after work Monday - <br />Thursday and for four hours on Friday. Week-end or evening activities and events are <br />scheduled as needed. These activities or events offer opportunities to volunteer and/or <br />work in the community. <br /> <br />What is the frequencv of staff interaction with the participant? <br />Various OCCC staff members meet daily with corpsmembers to deliver OCCC program <br />components. Corpsmembers are assigned to work in a crew which is supervised by an <br />OCCC Crew Supervisor. The OCCC Crew Supervisor works Monday-Thursday with <br />corpsmembers to complete assigned work projects. OCCC charter school teachers also <br />interact with corpsmembers on a daily basis as they attend class five days a week, <br />Monday-Friday. Week-end work/school activities are scheduled as needed and <br />appropriate. The OCCC Program Specialist (case manager) meets weekly if not daily <br />to monitor progress towards the corpsmembers Individual Service Strategy, and other <br />work/school/personal issues that may arise. Other OCCC staff or interns meet with <br />corpsmembers as needed for specialized trainings, workshops, or individualized follow <br />up regarding work/school/personal issues that may arise. <br /> <br />Will other non WIA aqencv staff be providinq elements of the proqram? <br />Other organizations such as social services, counseling centers, probation/parole, etc., <br />may be providing outside support services as in-kind support for this proposal. Many <br />corpsmembers may come to OCCC already involved is such services while others may <br />be referred. The OCCC highly believes in the All Youth, One System Concept which <br />allows the OCCC to network with many outside entities to ensure all corpsmembers are <br />linked to a variety of support services in the community. <br /> <br />Goals/Objectives/and Performance Levels <br />How will service(s) be deemed necessary? <br />The OCCC will use a variety of documents/forms/activities to provide an objective <br />assessment of participants to ensure service(s) are necessary. Staff will assess the <br />Individual participant's WIA eligibility, work readiness, suitability for program, <br />employability, and individual academic/service needs leading to the development of an <br />Individual Service Strategy upon enrollment in WIA. OCCC Program Specialists (case <br />managers), OCCC Transition Specialist, and OCCC charter school staff meet weekly to <br />internally monitor how OCCC provides services, discusses corpsmembers case <br /> <br />Page 9 of 23 <br />
