Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $150,000 in the <br />Institute of Museum and Library Services grant revenue account (no. <br />159-O1-5350) and appropriate same to the Institute of Museum and <br />Library Services expenditure account (no. 159-248-various) for a <br />master graphics plan at the Santa Ana Zoo. <br />2. Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager <br />and Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Hunt Design to <br />create a master graphics plan at the Santa Ana Zoo in an amount not <br />to exceed $70,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City of Santa Ana Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency was <br />successful in receiving a $150,000 Institute of Museum and Library <br />Services grant for the creation and implementation of a master graphics <br />plan at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park. The Master Graphics Plan will <br />coordinate information, convey the Zoo's conservation message, and present <br />a consistent image to effectively facilitate education and animal and <br />plant recognition. A portion of the grant funding will be used to <br />contract a professional design group to evaluate and submit a complete <br />report with recommendations and blueprints for bilingual interpretive <br />signage throughout the Zoo. The remaining funds will be used for the <br />fabrication and installation of the signage and interpretive panels. <br />Hunt Design is a graphic design consulting firm established in 1977 that <br />specializes in identity signage and environmental graphics programs for <br />public spaces, theme parks, entertainment centers and multi-use <br />developments. The City has contracted with Hunt Design in the past to <br />complete high profile projects throughout the City, including the design <br />of the primary logo for the Santa Ana Zoo, the creation of interpretive <br />20C-1 <br />
