Adopt a resolution supporting an energy partnership with Southern <br />California Edison to deliver energy efficiency information, <br />education and supporting efficiency initiatives and policies that <br />enhance our environment. <br />2. Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager to <br />execute an agreement with Southern California Edison in the amount <br />of $200,000 to implement energy efficiency programs in the <br />community. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The California Public Utilities Commission has authorized Southern <br />California Edison (SCE), in partnership with cities, to deliver energy <br />efficiency programs to utility customers in SCE's service area. Staff is <br />recommending a partnership with Edison to jointly deliver energy <br />efficiency information, training and materials that would benefit Santa <br />Ana's customers. <br />The proposed partnership will optimize the City's opportunities for <br />achieving short and long term energy savings, reduced utility bills, and <br />will assist City residents and businesses in understanding, managing and <br />reducing their energy use and costs. Moreover, the program will show <br />that Santa Ana is serious about energy efficiency and being a leader in <br />energy management practices. <br />SCE has allocated $200,000 to a Santa Ana partnership program. The City <br />seeks to leverage existing SCE energy efficiency strategies and programs <br />and to increase participation in those programs. The City's initial focus <br />is expected to include multi-family and small business retrofits, bulb <br />and lighting exchanges, community events, training and work shops and <br />building retrofits. It is anticipated that we would target energy <br />55B-1 <br />
