Fire protection requirements (Volume 24, Section 3403.1348-~). <br />The first paragraph of Section 3403.1 of X493-~ the building code is amended by <br />adding thereto the following: <br />EXCEPTION: If additions, alterations or repairs made to any building <br />constructed prior to January 1, 1946, other than an R-occupancy building, <br />exceed fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) in cost in any one-year period, then <br />either (A) the entire building must be completely sprinklered in accordance with <br />fire department standards, or (B) the building must comply with all the following <br />requirements: <br />The ceiling of a roof system shall be of one-hour construction, and <br />all ceiling or wall penetrations shall have approved fire dampers. <br />2. All stairways shall be completely enclosed with one-hour <br />construction to exits; and enclosed stairways or required exits shall <br />lead directly to the outside of the building. <br />Ordinance No. NS-XXXX <br />Page 13 of 48 <br />75C-21 <br />
