<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />DECEMBER 3, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION <br />AGREEMENT NO. 2007-28 FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1816 NORTH <br />FLOWER STREET <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />ex- <br /> <br />l2/i;iZ <br /> <br />CITY M NAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Direct the City Attorney to prepare and authorize the City Manager and <br />the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with Francois and <br />Kathleen Van de Voorde for the structure located at 1816 North Flower <br />Street. <br /> <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION ACTION <br /> <br />Recommended that the City Council direct the City Attorney to prepare and <br />authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute an <br />agreement with Francois and Kathleen Van de Voorde for the structure <br />located at 1816 North Flower Street at its November 1, 2007 meeting by a <br />vote of 7:0 (O'Callaghan abstained, Bustamante absent). <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />After the public hearing on November 1, 2007, the Historic Resources <br />Commission reviewed the proposed Historic Property Preservation Agreement <br />(Mills Act Contract) and concluded that the resulting potential property <br />tax savings would encourage the owner to reinvest the tax savings in the <br />maintenance of their historic property, and would benefit both the owner <br />and the community (Exhibit A). Addi tionally, the agreement prevents <br />inappropriate alterations. <br /> <br />25T -1 <br />
