<br />503.4 Obstruction of emergency access lanes. <br /> <br />(a) Obstructing emergency access lane. <br /> <br />(1) The required width of any fire apparatus access road shall not be <br />obstructed in any manner. Minimum required widths and <br />clearances established under this section shall be maintained at all <br />times. <br /> <br />(2) No person shall cause or permit any vehicle, including, but not <br />limited to, automobile, motorcycle, truck, bicycle or any other <br />vehicle in his control or ownership, to be stopped in an area <br />designated for emergency vehicles. <br /> <br />(3) This section applies to all non-emergency vehicles whatsoever, <br />attended or unattended, stopped for any length of time except when <br />necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with <br />directions of a police officer or fireman. <br /> <br />(4) Any vehicle found in violation of this section may be towed at the <br />owner's or operator's expense at the request of any Santa Ana <br />police officer, parking control officer, California Highway Patrol <br />officer, Orange County deputy sheriff or any fire department <br />personnel described in section 1-18 of this Code. <br /> <br />(b) Infraction violations. Any violation of this subsection 503.4 shall be deemed <br />an infraction. <br /> <br />SECTION 57: That section 14-26 is added to Chapter 14 of the Santa Ana <br />Municipal Code to read as follows: <br /> <br />Subsection 505.1 of the California Fire Code is amended to read as follows: <br />Section 505.1 Address numbers. <br />New and existing buildings shall have approved address numbers, building <br />numbers or approved building identification placed in a position that is plainly legible <br />and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers shall contrast <br />with their background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters. <br />Numbers shall be a minimum of 4 inches (102 mm) high with a minimum stroke width of <br />0.5 (12.7mm) for single family residences. <br />All multi-family, multi-retail and multi-commercial occupancies shall have a <br />minimum of 6 inches high numbers, with a minimum one and one half inch (1 W') stroke. <br />All light and heavy industrial occupancies shall have a minimum of 10 inches <br />high numbers, with a minimum one and one half inch (1 Yo") stroke. <br />All complexes that are three (3) stories or greater in height and/or have two (2) or more <br />building units shall have a minimum of 10 inch high numbers, with a one and one half <br />inch (1 %") stroke. <br />All multi-family, multi-retail and multi-industrial occupancies shall identify <br />individual units with numbers a minimum of 4 inches, affixed to the unit's front door <br /> <br />Ordinance No. NS-2760 <br />Page 28 of 36 <br />
