<br />Sec. 8-131. Reserved. <br /> <br />SECTION 14: That section 8-132 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is deleted in <br />its entirety: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-132. Reserved. <br /> <br />SECTION 15: That section 8-150 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-150. Fire protection requirements (Volume 2, Section 3403.1). <br /> <br />The first paragraph of Section 3403.1 of the building code is amended by adding <br />thereto the following: <br /> <br />EXCEPTION: If additions, alterations or repairs made to any building <br />constructed prior to January 1, 1946, other than an R-occupancy building, <br />exceed fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) in cost in anyone-year period, then <br />either (A) the entire building must be completely sprinklered in accordance with <br />fire department standards, or (B) the building must comply with all the following <br />requirements: <br /> <br />1. The ceiling of a roof system shall be of one-hour construction, and <br />all ceiling or wall penetrations shall have approved fire dampers. <br /> <br />2. All stairways shall be completely enclosed with one-hour <br />construction to exits; and enclosed stairways or required exits shall <br />lead directly to the outside of the building. <br /> <br />3. Draft stops are required in floors in accordance with Section 708.3. <br />In attic areas, one-hour walls shall be required for every one <br />thousand (1,000) square feet of area. <br /> <br />4. Smoke detectors with an alarm system, receiving their primary <br />power from the building wiring, shall be required throughout the <br />building in accordance with NFPA standards. <br /> <br />5. Either (a) corridors, regardless of occupant load, shall be one-hour <br />construction; or (b) a "life safety" sprinkler system, as approved by <br />the fire department, shall be installed in all corridors. <br /> <br />SECTION 16: The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares that amendments to section 8-290 are necessary because the <br />water table is less than eight (8) feet deep in certain areas of the City of Santa Ana. <br />Gray water implementation may cause cross-contamination of ground water with <br /> <br />Ordinance No. NS-2760 <br />Page 8 of 36 <br />
