The relationship between work and the <br />workplace is being redefined —virtual (flexible relationships), <br />distributedyet connected, with simultaneous pressures on <br />effectiveness and cost control. Paramount to the economic <br />realities driving changes in the workplace, and conseQuently the <br />evolving workplace, are new opportunities and challenges found <br />in managing new organizations and new organizational <br />relationships. <br />The Institute has been engaged in these efforts in many ways. Most <br />recently with the City of Ontario, the Institute was involved in the <br />facilitation of Strategic Planning Sessions with department heads, <br />electeds, and invited participants on identifying and addressing future <br />challenges in building the central community in the San Bernardino <br />County. This dialog provided formative input for the General Plan. <br />Key Personnel <br />STEVE PONTELL <br />Facilitator <br />Steve has extensive background in organizational and <br />community development. Spending the first I Oyears of <br />his career as the President and CEO of three different <br />nonprofit business organizations, Steve developed <br />insights into the inner workings of communities and <br />nonprofit organizations. Steve then launched his own <br />consulting firm, The @Work Consulting Group. Working with his <br />partners to create the workplace of the future, they successfully <br />implemented innovative projects across the country. For the last five <br />years Steve has served as the CEO of the De Oro Group, one of <br />California's largest and fastest growing mortgage brokerage, real estate, <br />and development companies, focused on the Latino marketplace. Steve <br />holds an undergraduate degree in City and Regional Planning from <br />Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a Master's Degree in Business from the <br />Drucker Center at Claremont Graduate University. He is noted for his <br />facilitation skills in urban planning and development and has worked with <br />the�City of Santa Ana Council in visioning efforts. <br />Page 3-12 Proposal to City of Santa Ana <br />
