Painting is necessary to <br />repair and prevent damage due to normal use and exposure to the elements. <br />The contract will provide for interior painting of the laundry, community, <br />and briefing rooms and exterior painting of the parking structure, <br />southwest parking area, fire lanes, and jail gates. Painting will help to <br />maintain clean, attractive facilities. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on October 24, 2007 and bids were <br />solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received is as <br />follows: <br />9 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />5 Invitations For Bid mailed to Santa Ana vendors <br />6 Bids received <br />Bids were received and opened on November 13, 2007 and evaluated (Exhibit <br />1) Staff attempted to contact the Santa Ana vendors; reaching one who <br />stated the company was not in the position to bid on this job, but wished <br />to be notified of future bidding opportunities. The bid received from AJ <br />Fistes is responsive to the specification and meets the City's <br />requirements. <br />22D-1 <br />
