NO. 07-110) <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />TREE ^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />~~~( r~ r ~ <br />CITY MAN"A"~~-G ER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to West Covina Motors, Inc., under the Cooperative <br />Purchase Provision of the City of Los Angeles, for the purchase of one tree <br />watering truck in the amount not to exceed $86,288.76. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Finance and Management Services Agency Fleet Maintenance Division's <br />annual Equipment Replacement Program is included in the City's annual <br />budget and identifies vehicles scheduled for replacement. Funding is <br />monitored through a depreciation schedule established with each department. <br />Additionally, the Fleet Division reviews the acquisition in accordance with <br />the City's Hybrid and Alternative Fuel Vehicle Acquisition Policy. <br />Currently, hybrid vehicles are not available in the heavy-duty truck line. <br />The Public Works Agency's Tree Maintenance Division is responsible for <br />maintaining approximately 55,500 trees along the city streets. Due to age, <br />worn condition and engine hours, a 1992 Ford heavy-duty water truck has <br />been approved for replacement in the current fiscal year. For the <br />replacement, Public Works has requested a right curbside watering feature <br />for safety in maintaining the flow of traffic. <br />Santa Ana City Ordinance No. NS-2312 authorizes the City to purchase <br />against contracts from any public agency utilizing a competitive bid <br />process. The City of Los Angeles contract with West Covina Motors, Inc. <br />for a Chevrolet heavy duty 1,600 gallon tank water truck was awarded as a <br />result of open, competitive bidding, and meets the City's requirements. <br />22F-1 <br />
