REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 4, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH <br />REDFLEX TRAFFIC SYSTEMS, INC. <br />FOR RED LIGHT PHOTO ENFORCEMENT <br />SYSTEM ~ <br />ti - <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached <br />amendment to the agreement with Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc. for support <br />of a Red Light Photo Enforcement program in a monthly not to exceed amount <br />of $5,370 per designated intersection for a one-year term, subject to non- <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On December 2, 2002, Council approved a five-year agreement with Redflex <br />Traffic Systems, Inc. for the installation, maintenance, and support of an <br />automated Red Light Photo Enforcement System. The original agreement <br />included the installation and support for up to twenty systems at <br />designated intersection approaches throughout the City for the purpose of <br />enforcing red light traffic violations. The agreement also provided for <br />two consecutive one-year extension options at the expiration of the initial <br />term in order to provide continuous, uninterrupted service. <br />Redflex Traffic Systems, Inc. has performed satisfactorily with the terms <br />of the agreement and staff recommends executing this amendment for another <br />one-year term at an annual cost of $1,288,800. Staff also requests <br />authorization for the Chief of Police to exercise the second one-year <br />option to extend the term upon the expiration of this first one-year <br />option. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds are available in the Police <br />(account no. 11-333-6291). <br />f C ~. ~ ~, _..` <br />_` <br />Paul M.
