REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 04, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br />THIRD AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH <br />ME TCALF & EDDY FOR ENGINEERING <br />SERVICES <br />CITY MANAGER <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15~ Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached third amendment to the agreement with Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. in <br />the amount of $24,500 for a maximum contract amount not to exceed <br />$229,813, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City Manager <br />and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On April 4, 2005, City Council awarded a contract to Metcalf & Eddy, Inc. <br />in the amount of $167,513 for design of the West Pump Station Facility <br />Upgrades (Exhibit 1). The improvements will include a new pump building, <br />new booster pumps, motors and appurtenances as well as all new electrical <br />panels and equipment. <br />This project is partially funded with the Federal Grant from the <br />Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA requested a cultural <br />resources assessment of the site prior to giving final approval. On June <br />5, 2006, City Council approved an amendment to the contract with Metcalf <br />and Eddy in the amount of $12,000 to provide the study. This amendment <br />also extended the term of the agreement until project completion, which <br />is anticipated to be mid-to-late 2009. <br />On May 21, 2007, City Council approved a second amendment to this <br />agreement for a not to exceed amount of $25,800 for a total contract <br />amount of $205,313. This second amendment was for additional services <br />not included in the original scope of work, such as landscape and <br />irrigation plans, schematic drawings, and well pump operations <br />programming . <br />This third amendment further revises the original scope of work to <br />provide for additional geotechnical assessment and calculations, new <br />architectural floor plan and building sections, as well as additional <br />electrical and instrumentation related work. The cost of these revisions <br />is $24,500 which results in a new total contract amount of $229,813. <br />25K-1 <br />
