This consists of automatic first and second alarm response <br />of fire apparatus to designated areas of both citfes. The criteria established is <br />based on time of response. Tbis system has been in operation for seven years and has <br />proved to be of benefit to the citizens of both communities- The mutual or automatic <br />response system is providing a higher level of service then normally would be available <br />utilizing only our apparatus and is in keeping with criteria set forth in the Santa Ana <br />Fire Protection Master Plan. Attachment A is a map of the affected areas within each <br />City. This map defines the areas and type of response governed by this agreement. <br />At this time due to a radio net change, the cities of Santa Ana, Costa Mesa and Newport <br />Beach are conducting feasibility studies of future Joint ,haring agreements. These <br />include such items as joint communications, training and related emergency and non - <br />emergency services. It is expected that these agreements can be worked out to the <br />mutual benefit of both agencies resulting in a more cost-effective service to the citizens' <br />BUDGET IMPACT <br />This agreement will not increase the <br />necessary to continue this agreement <br />merely aids in meeting response and <br />Fire Protection Master Plan. <br />current budget.
