<br />(JWF: 1/31/08) <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE <br />OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR THE FY2005 URBAN <br />AREAS SECURITY INITIATIVE FUNDING PROGRAM <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The United States Department of Homeland Security has developed the <br />Urban Areas Security Initiative funding program (UASI). UASI provides <br />funds to local emergency first responders to enhance security and <br />preparedness to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism <br />by providing funding for equipment, planning, training exercises and <br />technical assistance. <br /> <br />B In FY 2006 the United States Department of Homeland Security combined <br />the Anaheim UASI with the Santa Ana UASI into a single Urban Area with <br />the City of Santa Ana as the designated Urban Area Core City and <br />provided for shared administrative responsibilities with the City of <br />Anaheim. <br /> <br />C The State Office of Homeland Security recently disencumbered FY2005 <br />Homeland Security Grant funds and is now making these funds available <br />to eligible grant recipients. The City of Santa Ana has been identified as <br />an eligible recipient and may be awarded up to $4,000,000. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and <br />directs the City Manager and the Chief of Police or his designee to enter into an <br />agreement with the State of California Office of Homeland Security for the FY 2005 <br />Urban Areas Security Initiative funding program in the amount of $4,000,000. <br /> <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby approves an <br />Appropriation Adjustment recognizing the FY 2005 Urban Areas Security Initiative in the <br />amount of $4,000,000 and appropriates same in the FY 2005 Urban Areas Security <br />Initiative Program Grant expenditure accounts <br /> <br />Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the city council, and the clerk of the council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />208-3 <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2008-XXX <br />Page 1 of2 <br />
