Approve an appropriation adjustment accepting the State of California, <br />Office of Emergency Services 2007 Anti-Gang Initiative Grant in the <br />amount of $50,000 into the revenue account no. 155-01-5370-2 and <br />appropriate same into the Office of Emergency Services 2007 Anti-Gang <br />Initiative Grant overtime expenditure account no. 155-362-6141. <br />2. Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to execute a grant <br />award agreement with the State of California, Office of Emergency <br />Services. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Police Department has received the 2007 Anti-Gang Initiative <br />award from the Office of Emergency Services in the amount of $50,000. This <br />is the second year of funding under this program. The grant funds will be <br />utilized to support the activities of the Santa Nita Gang Injunction <br />efforts within the Safety Zone. The Safety Zone is defined as a particular <br />identified area of the city in which gang members conduct their criminal <br />activities. The goals, as specified in the grant, are to reduce Part I UCR <br />crime, gang nuisance activity, and overall crime by 25o within the Safety <br />Zone. <br />Staff recommends approval of the recommended actions as the grant program <br />positively impacts the community by directly aiding in the efforts to <br />reduce gang activities. <br />20A-1 <br />
