Attachment A <br />2007 EMPG PROJECT NARRATIVE <br />Applicant Name: County of Orange <br />Award Number: <br />Project #1 Emer~ency Planning <br />Goal <br />Update emergency laws, plans and procedures to be compliant with the Emergency <br />Services Act (which includes SEMS) and NIMS. <br />Objectives <br />• Initiate the integration of NIMS into existing emergency management programs, <br />plans and procedures. <br />• Complete NIMCAST baseline assessment. <br />• Conduct at least one operational area (OA) council meeting annually. <br />• Participate in MARAC and SEMS Specialist meetings. <br />• Participate in the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). <br />• Participate in regional and sub-regional planning efforts. <br />Description: <br />The Emergency Planning Project will focus on strategies designed to improve <br />development and preparation for emergencies. The County of Orange/Emergency <br />Management Bureau (EMB), as the Orange County Operational Area, will make strides <br />in NIMS integration, continue to meet with the Operational Area Executive Board on a <br />quarterly basis, continue to attend MARAC, SEMS, and additional regional meetings, <br />and maintain and improve upon existing emergency operations plans. The EMB will <br />continue with NIMCAST reporting assessment program. The EMB has active <br />participation with regional planning efforts through the Orange County Emergency <br />Management Organization (OCEMO) by meeting monthly and will continue with its <br />regular system of communication, coordination and cooperation through the members of <br />the Operational Area. The EMB will participate in a baseline assessment for the <br />Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). Part of emergency planning is <br />ensuring continuity of government and continuity of operations plans, and the EMB <br />assists in these planning efforts. <br />Performance Measures: <br />21 A-7 <br />
