NO. 08-Oll) <br />-ex -J <br />ITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1St Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Amend the contract with Proforce Law Enforcement for police weaponry by <br />$15,000, in an annual amount not to exceed $40,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Police Department currently utilizes Glock-manufactured <br />firearms as standard issue side arms, allowing for conformity in training <br />and ammunition magazine interchangeability between officers. Additionally, <br />the police department purchases tasers and taser cartridges for use by <br />officers. ProForce Law Enforcement is the sole source distributor of <br />tasers and Glock weapons in California. <br />As these items are needed throughout the year, staff established a contract <br />in the amount of $25,000 for fiscal year 2007-2008.
