REQUEST FOR
COUNCIL ACTION
CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE:
MARCH 3, 2008
TITLE:
CONTRACT AMENDMENT FOR GENERAL
CONTRACTING SERVICES
(SPEC. NO. 05-053)
CITY MANAGER
RECOMMENDED ACTION
CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY:
APPROVED
^ As Recommended
^ As Amended
^ Ordinance on 1S` Reading
^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading
^ Implementing Resolution
^ Set Public Hearing For_
CONTINUED TO
FILE NUMBER
Amend the contract with KCK Construction Co. for general contracting
services by $40,000 for an annual amount not to exceed $150,000.
DISCUSSION
The City establishes an annual blanket order list consisting of vendors
that provide supplies and services that are required by agencies on a
consistent basis. On occasion, all City departments require general
contracting services for the purposes of general maintenance, building
modifications, and renovation. The contract provides fixed pricing for
multiple trades including carpentry, concrete work, paper hanging, welding,
suspended ceiling installation, and sheet metal.
On June 6, 2005, the City Council awarded a contract to KCK Construction
Co. for general contracting service. The recommended action will allow for
the completion of critical modifications including the installation of OSHA
compliant roof anchors to support personnel performing exterior building
maintenance at City Hall, renovation of the bullet-proof panels at the
Police Department firing range, and workspace modification to accommodate
the finance software implementation and testing.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the various departmental Maintenance & Repair of
Buildings & Grounds accounts (object code 6261).
,~~f --< ~ ~ - 1 ,
i ~-_--
-6°Francisco Gutierrez
Executive Director
Finance & Mgmt.
