REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />MARCH 3, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br />RENEW AGREEMENT WITH SIEMENS <br />BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES FOR <br />MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF FIRE <br />ALARM SYSTEM AT THE POLICE <br />ADMINISTRATION AND HOLDING <br />FACILITY <br />LC <br />Z~~ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15f Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the attached <br />renewal of the agreement with Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. in an <br />annual amount not to exceed $32,960, subject to non-substantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Police Administration and Holding Facility is equipped with a <br />sophisticated fire monitoring and alarm system that protects the property <br />and personnel who work and visit the facility. The agreement provides for <br />annual maintenance and repair of the system, which includes materials, <br />skilled labor, technical supervision, tools, supplies, and testing <br />equipment. In addition, statutory inspections are performed in order to <br />maintain the fire alarm system in first class operating condition to ensure <br />that the system's operation meets all applicable laws and regulations. <br />On November 21, 2006, staff received and evaluated proposals for fire alarm <br />maintenance and repair service. Subsequently, on December 18, 2006, the <br />City Council authorized execution of a one-year agreement with two, one- <br />year renewals to Siemens Building Technologies. The vendor has performed <br />satisfactorily and has agreed to continue service without an increase in <br />pricing. Staff recommends exercising the first renewal of the agreement. <br />25F-1 <br />
