<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />APRIL 7, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT WITH DR. <br />LORRIE BOLDRICK TO PROVIDE <br />VETERINARY SERVICES FOR THE SANTA <br />ANA ZOO AT PRENTICE PARK <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 15l Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />LY <br /> <br />t24;~ <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached agreement amendment with Dr. Lorrie Boldrick for the provision <br />of veterinary services at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park in the <br />amount of $68,000 for a one-year term, subject to non-substantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park is required by the United States <br />Department of Agriculture to provide veterinary services for the <br />collection of animals maintained at the Zoo. Dr. Lorrie Boldrick will <br />provide a comprehensive program of preventative and curative medical care <br />for the entire Zoo collection, including the exotic animals. Dr. <br />Boldrick will visit Zoo facilities a minimum of 12 hours per week to <br />examine the animals' health and sanitation, and assist with maintaining <br />complete medical history records for each animal in the animal <br />collection. <br /> <br />Dr. Boldrick has over 20 years of zoo experience with exotic animal <br />veterinarian medicine. The availability of veterinarians in the area who <br />are able to contract with the Santa Ana Zoo and have a broad range of <br />experience with exotic animals is limited. Dr. Boldrick has performed <br />satisfactorily during the previous term and it is recommended the <br />agreement be extended for an additional one-year period. <br /> <br />25F-1 <br />
