Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached agreement with the State of California Department of <br />Transportation for the Flower Street Bike Trail Extension Project in <br />the amount of $1,000,000, subject to non-substantive changes approved <br />by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br /> <br />2. Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing $1,000,000 in the <br />Cal trans - Bicycle Transportation Account (BTA) revenue account (no. <br />161-01-5372) and appropriate same in the Cal trans Bicycle <br />Transportation Account (BTA) expenditure account (no. 161-272-6631) <br />for the Flower Street Bike Trail Extension Project. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency was <br />successful in receiving a $1,000,000 Bicycle Transportation Account <br />Proj ect grant from the State of California Department of Transportation <br />for the Flower Street Bike Trail Extension Project. The project consists <br />of the installation of a 10-foot wide bike trail, landscaping, and <br />supporting irrigation along one mile of the flood channel, which runs <br />parallel to Flower Street. The Flower Street Bike Trail Extension Project <br />will provide a much-needed gap closure between the Alton Street Bike Trail <br />and the Sunflower Avenue Bike Trail, thus linking the Golden Loop Bike <br />Trail System which encircles Santa Ana with the City of Costa Mesa's bike <br />trail system. <br /> <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br /> <br />Environmental Review No. <br />Exemption has been filed <br />Environmental Quality Act. <br /> <br />2006-197 has been completed <br />for the project pursuant <br /> <br />and a <br />to the <br /> <br />Categorical <br />California <br /> <br />25G-1 <br /> <br />
