<br />SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br />Minutes of Meeting <br />February 26, 2008 <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was convened at 5:15 p.m. at the Santa Ana Police Department, 60 Civic <br />Center Plaza, 4th Floor Conference Room, Santa Ana, California. <br /> <br />ATTENDANCE <br />Council members present: Claudia Alvarez and Sal Tinajero; <br />Council member absent: David Benavides <br /> <br />Staff present: City Manager Dave Ream, Assistant City Attorney Paula Coleman, Police <br />Chief Paul Walters, Fire Chief Marc Martin, Police Deputy Chiefs Tony Levatino and <br />Tony Harrelson, Fire Captain Steve Snyder, Asst to the City Manager Mark Lawrence, <br />Police Corporal Leo Rodriguez, Police Investigative Specialist Yolanda Pena, and <br />Recording Secretary Janet Chop. <br /> <br />Public present: Justin Reuter and Doug Irving. <br /> <br />SUMMARY OF DISCUSSIONS <br /> <br />1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Approved Minutes of the January 29, 2008 meeting. <br /> <br />2. FIREWORKS JULY 4, 2008 <br />Moved and seconded, continued until the next Public Safety Committee meeting. <br /> <br />3. STUDY OF SAMC CHAPTER 11, DANCE ORDINANCE <br />PIS Pena presented a review of Santa Ana's Ordinance as compared to similar <br />cities in Orange County. She said the Police Department recommended no <br />changes be made to the Ordinance at this time. The Committee had questions <br />regarding specific locations. <br /> <br />Justin Reuter of Proofs spoke regarding certain modifications that he felt needed <br />to be made to the Ordinance regarding dancing. <br /> <br />An email from David Hastie was received and filed. <br /> <br />4. CSUF COMMUNITY ASSESSMENT PROJECT <br />Moved and seconded, continued until the next Public Safety Committee meeting. <br /> <br />5. 2007 CRIME RATE STATISTICS <br />Moved and seconded, continued until the next Public Safety Committee meeting. <br />
