<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007-030 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA SUPPORTING FEDERAL FUNDING OF <br />PROJECTS AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE <br />DIRECTOR OF THE PUBLIC WORKS AGENCY TO <br />SUBMIT THE PROJECTS FOR FUNDING UNDER THE <br />HIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br /> <br />3/1/07Ies <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), codified as Section 148 of <br />Title 23, United States Code (23 U.S.C. section 148)is a core program as a result of the <br />passage of the Safe, Accountable,. Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A <br />legacy for Users. <br /> <br />B. The State of California Department of Transportation (CaITrans) issued a call <br />for projects for the HSIP for Federal Fiscal Year 2006/2007 and Federal Fiscal Year <br />2007/2008, to use federal transportation funds for construction of projects that will <br />improvo traffic and pedestrian safety, such as traffic signals and sign age upgrades: <br /> <br />C. CalTrans makes grants available to local governmental agencies under the <br />Program based on the results of a statewide competition. <br /> <br />D. Projects eligible for funding include any local agency public road, any local <br />public agency surface transportation facility, any local agency publicly-owned bicycle or <br />pedestrian pathway or trail, or any traffic calming measure on a local agency public <br />road. <br />E. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana possesses the legal authority to <br />nominate, finance, acquire, and construct projects that are eligible for funding under the <br />HSIP Program. <br /> <br />F. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana supports efforts to improve traffic <br />and pedestrian safety in the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana authorizes the Executive <br />Director of the Public Works Agency or his designee to execute, in the name of the City <br />of Santa Ana, all necessary documentation and applications required to be submitted to <br />CalTrans for the projects identified in Exhibit 1 for funding under the Highway Safety <br />Improvement Program. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2007-030 <br />Page 1 of3 <br />
