NO. 06-078) <br />CITY MA AGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 15' Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Renew the contract with Dee's Shoes Inc. d/b/a Red Wing Shoes for safety <br />shoes for a one-year period in the annual amount not to exceed $40,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Employees from various departments require safety shoes while performing <br />job duties. Under the City's Memorandum Of Understanding with the employee <br />associations, the City agrees to provide up to $200 per fiscal year, per <br />applicable employee, for approved purchases of safety shoes and boots. <br />On July 3, 2006, the City Council awarded a contract to Red Wing Shoes for <br />a one-year period with provisions for two one-year renewals. The vendor has <br />performed satisfactorily during the past contract period and has agreed to <br />renew the contract with a three percent increase due to higher fuel, labor, <br />material and trucking expenses. Staff verified the safety shoes increase is <br />consistent with the market and Red Wing Shoes continues to offer us the <br />best price in our Santa Ana market.
