REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JUNE 2, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br />LEASE AGREEMENT WITH MEXICAN AMERICAN <br />OPPORTUNITY FOUNDATION <br />l1/ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1~ Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached lease agreement with the Mexican American Opportunity <br />Foundation in the amount of $4,884 for a one-year term, subject to non- <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />For the past eight years, the City of Santa Ana through the Santa Ana <br />W/0/R/K Center has leased office space from the Mexican American <br />Opportunity Foundation (MAO F) for the operation of a W/0/R/K Center <br />satellite office. This office provides job employment services such as <br />computer usage, Internet access for job search, job search workshops, <br />resume preparation assistance and referrals to community service, <br />training, and education resources for Empowerment Zone residents. The <br />continued leasing of this space from MAOF will ensure that these <br />necessary resources will remain available to the community. <br />The office space, located at 502 S. Ross, Santa Ana, is 323 square feet <br />with a monthly lease rate of $1.26 per square foot for an amount not to <br />exceed $4,884 during the one-year term of the lease which will be <br />effective July 1, 2008. <br />25C-1 <br />
