Adopt a resolution approving submission of an application to the <br />California Department of Housing and Community Development for <br />$900,000 under the CalHome Program. <br />2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the application and all <br />documents relating thereto. <br />COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION ACTION <br />At its Regular Meeting of May 20, 2008, by a vote of 6:0, the Community <br />Redevelopment and Housing Commission recommended that the City Council: <br />1. Adopt a resolution approving submission of an application to the <br />California Department of Housing and Community Development for <br />$900,000 under the CalHome Program. <br />2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the .application and all <br />documents relating thereto. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The California Department of Housing and Community Development recently <br />announced the availability of $60 million through the CalHome Program. <br />The CalHome Program is a multi-faceted homeownership and rehabilitation <br />program created by the State of California that utilizes monies made <br />available by the passage of Proposition 1C, the Housing and Emergency <br />Shelter Trust Fund Act of 2006. These funds are available to local <br />public agencies or nonprofit corporations for a variety of programs that <br />benefit low- and very low-income households. <br />55A-1 <br />
