<br />Lss5/2710B <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008-038 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCil OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER AND THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF <br />THE PUBLIC WORKS AGENCY TO SUBMIT GRANT <br />APPLICATIONS TO THE CALIFORNIA <br />INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT BOARD FOR <br />THE USED Oil RECYCLING GRANT PROGRAM <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCil OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The State of California has enacted the California Oil Recycling <br />Enhancement Act, administered by the California Integrated Waste <br />Management Board through its Used Oil Recycling Program, to provide <br />funds for the implementation of projects to promote used oil recycling <br />efforts including providing convenient collection locations, increasing <br />demand for refined oil, motivate and educate the public to recycle used oil <br />and develop research and demonstration projects; and <br /> <br />B. The City of Santa Ana has utilized grant funds to provide used oil <br />collection centers in the community; and <br /> <br />C. The City desires to apply for grant funds to continue its used oil collection <br />program and to implement additional used oil recycling programs as they <br />become feasible. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council hereby authorizes the filing of grant applications to <br />the California Integrated Waste Management Board for all available grants under the Used <br />Oil Recycling Program for the period extending through June 30, 2013. <br /> <br />Section 3. The Council appoints the City Manager or the Executive Director of <br />the Public Works Agency, or their designee(s), as agent of the City of Santa Ana to <br />conduct all negotiations, execute and submit all documents, including but not limited to <br />applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests and so on, which may be <br />necessary for the completion of the grant projects. <br /> <br />Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2008-038 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
