Description of Work - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period. <br />What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Only the <br />viewable space will print. <br />The CSP Youth Shelter located in Huntington Beach is a short-term emergency program for runaway, homeless and <br />at-risk youth ages 11-17. The 12-bed program will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will provide <br />emergency and temporary residential services to youth from low-income families. Program services include a 2-4 <br />week stay, clothing, showers, meals, education, counseling, life skills training, and 24-hour supervision to youth. <br />The Shelter will operate on a structured daily schedule, which will include 3 nutritious meals, 2 healthy snacks, and <br />three hours of academic support by the Shelter Tutor. Daily group activities include goal setting, counseling sessions; <br />and drug and alcohol abstinence, education, and prevention classes. With trained professionals on staff, the Shelter <br />will provide in-depth counseling to both teens and families. When youngsters "graduate" from the residential program, <br />they will be enrolled in the aftercare component, which will include ''Trasition Groups;" 12-step program meeting; and <br />individual counseling and coaching sessions. Family members will be enrolled in aftercare counseling and ongoing <br />parenting classes. <br />The CSP Youth Shelter will provide vital program services to 20 Santa Ana residents. These will include: residential <br />emergecy shelter, counseling, case management, after-care and parenting classes. In addition, CSP will provide <br />outreach services at Santa Ana local schools and community centers.
