These services are offered out of two Family Resource Centers located in western and south east
Santa Ana. For the past seven years the Outreach Program has been present in the community and has offered
comprehensive domestic violence serivices. Currently the program provides adult, child, and family counseling
with a focus on trauma and/or prevention. We also offer In Home Parenting, the Personal Empowerment
Program, Family Advocacy, and Information and Referral.
The specific services that are to be offered utilizing Santa Ana CDBG funds are youth groups. In these groups
youth will learn of the dynamics involved in healthy relationships and how to effectively communicate. The groups
aim to help youth establish and keep healthy relationships, to understand appropriate boundaries, and to build on
self awareness and self esteem.
Domestic Violence Counseling is our other proposed service. Through couseling we aim to increase the safety of
domestic violence victims and their families. Once the victim's safety has been addressed, counseling services
will focus on helping victims identify the impact of violence on their emotional functioning as well as their
children's. It is our objective to help these people shift from a perception of themselves as victims to an individual
capable of taking charge of their own lives and that of their family.
Additionally, we will provide prevention groups through our community education to school age children and youth
through our "Hands are Not for Hitting" " Words are not for Hurting", "Love is Not Supposed to Hurt", and "Jason's
Story" curriculums. These various psychoeducational programs provide age appropriate skills for dealing with
violence in relationships and in the home.
Schedule of Performace
Estimate the number of ONLY unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program during the 12 -
month contract period per quarter.
