NO. 08-031) <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />o As Recommended <br />o As Amended <br />o Ordinance on 151 Reading <br />o Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />o Implementing Resolution <br />o Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />!2.//Ja <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Award a contract to Q-AIR California to provide and install a new shop air <br />compressor supply system at the Fleet Maintenance facility for $38,043 and <br />a five year maintenance contract in an amount not to exceed $2,300 <br />annually. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The Finance and Management Services Agency Fleet Maintenance Division <br />handles the maintenance and repair of over 800 City vehicles, including 110 <br />patrol sedans and equipment at the Corporate Yard facility, built in 1994. <br />Fleet Maintenance operates with a fully operational garage, including a <br />shop compressor supply system to provide air for the pneumatic vehicle <br />lifts, tire inflation machines, all shop tools and the air reels to pump <br />the vehicle oils and lubricants throughout the shop. Over the past three <br />years, the current 50 HP compressor system has displayed increasing <br />downtime, causing high dollar service calls requiring parts to be <br />dispatched from overseas. Therefore, the City has been advised by the <br />authorized service center to replace the deteriorating system and benefit <br />from the electricity savings rebate program offered through Southern <br />California Edison. <br /> <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on April 18, 2008, and bids were <br />solicited. A summary of the bid invitations and bids received lS as <br />follows: <br /> <br />4 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />8 Bids received <br /> <br />Bids were received, opened on May 7, 2008. The bids were evaluated on the <br />ability to provide full capacity air pressure for the Fleet facility, <br />readily available replacement parts, as well as pricing (Exhibit 1). <br />Staff recommends awarding a contract to Q-AIR California for their USA made <br />25 HP compressor system offering a $8,658 SCE first year savings on <br />electric power and a $4,000 SCE rebate. Contract award includes a 10 <br />percent contingency on the proj e~2K-1 <br />
