Iss:06/18/08 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND <br />CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY <br />SERVICES FOR THE PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS <br />PROGRAM <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br />A. The California Office of Emergency Services has awarded to the Santa <br />Ana Police Department, grant funds in the amount of $17,352.00, for the <br />Project Safe Neighborhoods Project. <br />B. This funding will be used to reduce gang violence by enhancing the <br />services provided through the Santa Ana Police Activities and Athletic <br />League, including providing funds fora "Community Drop-In-Center" to <br />provide students with a safe haven, including tutoring and mentoring by <br />local college students and police officers. The funds will facilitate the <br />purchase of sports equipment, educational and office supplies, games and <br />prizes. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and directs <br />the City Manager and the Chief of Police or their designees to execute the grant award <br />agreement with the Office of Emergency Services. <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby appoints the Chief of <br />Police, or his designee, as agent for the City of Santa Ana to conduct all negotiations, <br />execute and submit all documents, including but not limited to applications, agreements, <br />amendments and payment requests which may be necessary for the completion of the <br />aforementioned grant. <br />20B-3 <br />
