Each of Saint Joseph Ballet's 400 enrolled students will receive highly individualized
mentoring and a curriculum that progressively challenges students to achieve. Parents will receive the
social services they need to be better parents and resolve family crises. Public school students will
reconnect with the joy of movement at a crucial time in their development.
Saint Joseph Ballet distinguishes itself from other youth programs in several key ways.
First, Saint Joseph Ballet effectively combines progressively challenging dance education with academic and
family services to mentor inner-city youth in and around Santa Ana. Saint Joseph Ballet's holistic approach to
programming nurtures students' growth by supporting their academic endeavors while providing resources that
help develop their social and emotional well-being.
Second, unlike local drop-in centers, students receive highly individualized attention for up to nine years,
providing for deep emotional development through long-term mentoring with positive adult role models. This
high level of individualized attention also ensures that students receive the services and encouragement they need
to graduate from high school and attend college.
Third, Saint Joseph Ballet has made a commitment to provide college scholarship awards to those who meet
basic eligibility requirements. Students who participate in Saint Joseph Ballet's programs throughout high school
and achieve a GPA of 2.5 or higher can earn up to a maximum of $8,000 to attend college.
