<br />155072208 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008-055 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND <br />CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF <br />TRAFFIC SAFETY <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />A. The Santa Ana Police Department has been selected to receive a grant <br />from the California Office of Traffic Safety, DUI Enforcement and <br />Awareness Program, in the amount of $216,583.00. <br /> <br />B. Grant funding will allow the Police Department to fund programs to reduce <br />the number of alcohol involved crashes, including conducting DUI/Driver's <br />License checkpoints and DUI saturation patrols, and concentrating on <br />repeat DUI offenders on probation who continue to drive after having their <br />license suspended or revoked. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Council authorizes the City Manager and the Chief of <br />Police, or their designee(s), to execute a grant award agreement with the California <br />Office of Traffic Safety in the amount of $216,583.00. <br /> <br />Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 18th day of Auaust, 2008. <br /> <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />Joseph W.
