Orange County Conservation Corps <br />Santa Ana Workforce Investment Board <br />Request for Proposal <br />The Youth Service Provider Network <br />PY 2008/2009 <br />• Support services; referrals for legal, medical, substance abuse, health, housing, <br />family/personal guidance and counseling; help with tools, books, clothing, other items <br />needed for interviews, job requirements, advanced training, etc. <br />• OCCC staff as adults mentors; <br />• Access to OCCC computer lab, fax, voice mail, and printer for resumes, applications, <br />financial aid, job search, job retention, on-line services; <br />• Transition assistance <br />o Job placement /improve employment situation <br />o Education opportunities <br />Goals/Objectives/and Performance Levels <br />How will service(s) be deemed necessary? <br />The OCCC will use a variety of documents/forms/activities to provide an objective assessment <br />of participants to ensure service(s) are necessary. Staff will assess the individual participant's <br />WIA eligibility, work readiness, suitability for program, employability, and individual <br />academic/service needs leading to the development of an Individual Service Strategy upon <br />enrollment in WIA. OCCC Program Specialists (case managers), OCCC Transition Specialist, and <br />OCCC charter school staff meet weekly to internally monitor how OCCC provides services, <br />discusses corpsmembers case management and service needs, and ensures services provided <br />are necessary and appropriate. Following are some of the strategies and assessments the OCCC <br />will use: <br />1. OCCC Interview and Intake Form (used with Santa Ana WIA intake form): participant <br />personal background and prior work history; OCCC form used during interview(s) to <br />assist with determining suitability for WIA program, work readiness, employability, <br />occupational skills, potential individual case management needs, and suitability for <br />OCCC's programs; <br />2. TABE Test: standardized tests to assess basic skills; determine grade level equivalents; <br />track literacy and numeracy gains; required by OCCC charter school; <br />3. Practice CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) Test: practice tests to monitor <br />progress towards meeting high school exit criteria, monitor academic progress, literacy, <br />and numeracy gains; required by OCCC charter school; <br />4. Skills Tutor: online program which allows students to self tutor and improve math and <br />reading levels; <br />5. Individual Education Plan; OCCC form for education goals/plan; required by OCCC <br />charter school; <br />6. Individual Service Learning Plan (WIA Individual Service Strategy); work/personal goal <br />setting; used to address individual supportive service and developmental needs; <br />required for OCCC certification; <br />7. Eclecon Value Activity: used to determine participants values, skills, and career interest. <br />Page 10 of 24 <br />
