THIS ENDORSEMENT CHANGES THE POLICY. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY.
THE I
HARTFORD
VETERINARIAN'S PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY COVERAGE
This endorsement modifies insurance provided under the following:
BUSINESS LIABILITY COVERAGE FORM
Except as otherwise stated in this endorsement, the terms and conditions of the Policy apply
Solely with respect to the "wrongful acts" coverage provided by this endorsement, the Business Liability Coverage Form is
amended as follows:
A. COVERAGES
1. Paragraph a. of the Insuring Agreement of Section A. COVERAGES is deleted and replaced by the following:
Insuring Agreement
a. We will pay those sums that the insured becomes legally obligated to pay as "damages" because of "bodily
injury", "property damage" or "personal and advertising injury' as a result of a "wrongful act" to which this
insurance applies. We will have the right and duty to defend the insured against any claim or "suit" seeking
those "damages". However, we will have no duty to defend the insured against any claim or "suit" seeking
"damages" for "wrongful acts" to which this insurance does not apply.
We may, at our discretion, investigate any alleged "wrongful act" to which this insurance applies, and, with the
insured's written consent, settle any claim or "suit" that may result. If the insured refuses to consent to a
reasonable settlement recommended by us and acceptable to the claimant, then our liability to pay
"damages" and Supplementary Payments shall not exceed the amount which we would have paid for
"damages" and Supplementary Payments at the time the claim or "suit" could have been settled. But:
(1) The amount we will pay for "damages" is limited as described in Section D. LIABILITY AND MEDICAL
EXPENSES LIMITS OF INSURANCE; and
(2) Our right and duty to defend ends when we have used up the applicable limit of insurance in the payment
of judgments or settlements to which this insurance applies.
No other obligation or liability to pay sums or perform acts or services is covered unless explicitly provided for
under Paragraph 3. Coverage Extension - Supplementary Payments.
2. Paragraphs 1.b.(1)(a) and 1.b.(1)(b) of the Insuring Agreement of Section A. COVERAGES are deleted and
replaced by the following:
b. This insurance applies
(1) to a "wrongful act" only if the "wrongful act":
(a) Takes place in the "coverage territory"; and
(b) Occurs during the policy period.
3. Paragraph 3.a.(2) of Coverage Extension — Supplementary Payments of Section A. COVERAGES, does not
apply to the coverages provided by this endorsement.
B. EXCLUSIONS
1. Exclusion 1 J. of Section B. EXCLUSIONS does not apply to injury or damage resulting from "wrongful acts".
2. Exclusion 1.k.(4) of Section B. EXCLUSIONS does not apply to injury or damage resulting from "wrongful acts"
committed upon animals in the care, custody or control of the insured.
3. The following exclusions are added to Section B. EXCLUSIONS:
This insurance does not apply to any "wrongful act", claim or "suit" arising out of or in any way related to:
a. Any injury or damage for which the insured is obligated to pay "damages" by reason of the assumption of
liability in a contract or agreement, including but not limited to liability assumed by an insured under any
agreement guaranteeing the result of any treatment.
Form SL 50 86 12 19 Page 1 of 5
© 2019, The Hartford
(May include copyrighted material of Insurance Services Office, Inc., with its permission)
