Use caution when opening attachments or links.
"County of Orange officials overspent this past fiscal year by nearly $30 million, mostly from the Sheriff and
District Attorney — a fact few officials like to publicly talk about.
According to records accompanying the request for added funding, Sheriff Don Barnes overspent by
$20,594,301 due to "higher than budgeted salaries and employee benefits, including overtime and costs for
dual -filled positions required to meet current year operational needs as well as due to the reopening of the James
A. Musick facility."
District Attorney Todd Spitzer's overspending also was driven by an increase in salaries and employee benefits
of $5,977,739, along with a hike in services and supplies of $1,627,797.
Under state law, county supervisors are required to produce a balanced budget by July 1, the start of the new
fiscal year.
Yet the sad fact is that the county budget doesn't seem to stay balanced very long."
https://voiceofoc.org/2025/05/santana-confronting orange-countys-public-spending-problem/
The shooting in Las Vegas involved more than 40 Orange County Sheriffs personnel who were attending the
three-day Route 91 Harvest Festival.
During the Las Vegas shooting on October 1, 2017, several AOCDS members who were off -duty deputy
sheriffs and "District Attorney investigators", more lies. #WorkersComp
https://www. aocds. org//press-release-las-vegas-shooting-work-comp-benefits/
Sheriff's deputies have one of the highest paying union contracts in the county, which supervisors just increased
https://voiceo foc.org/2024/02/orange-county-sheriffs-union-jumps-into-supervisor-races-spends-250k/
