Zuniga, Diana
From: Jackie Angel Investor <
Sent: Monday, April 21, 2025 1:22 PM
To: eComment
Cc: Hernandez, Johnathan; Ryberg, Erinn
Subject: Cruising is not a crime?? SAPID did not get the memo LOL
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana.Use caution when opening attachments or links.
It is ridiculous the amount of(holiday pay) money, double overtime and overpriced resources Santa Ana Police
once again wasted unnecessarily, criminalizing Santa Ana families, shutting down the main arteries of our city.
On a day of celebration, of culture, of rebirth
Once again, the City of Santa Ana missed the mark by allowing SAPD to run rampant and trample our rights.
"Chicanos" Johnathan Hernandez and Avelino Valencia have no bearing here. They carry no weight.
- Santa Ana California
###
BRISTOL/McFADDEN Santa Ana Police will host its annual shutdown-of-the-streets-to-deter-cruisers
enforcement on Easter Sunday.
On Easter Sunday, April 20 2025,the Santa Ana Police Department closed Bristol Street and Edinger Avenue
to curb car clubs and cruising events. Bristol Street had one lane in each direction closed between Warner
Avenue and 1 st Street, while Edinger Avenue was completely closed between Bristol Street and Main Street.
The closures were in effect from 3 PM on Sunday afternoon until 2 AM on Monday morning, affecting bus
service throughout the city.
"Once harassed by police, lowriders can cruise across California under a new law
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law on Friday that lifts the restrictions on lowrider cruising, a cultural
and artistic tradition developed by Latinos living in the Golden State.
The law lifts restrictions limiting how low cars can ride, and it prevents cities and towns from passing bans on
cruising."
https://www.npr.org/2023/10/17/1206625366/lowrider-cruising-califomia-end-ban
1
