<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br /> <br /> <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />OCTOBER 6, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />D As Recommended <br />D As Amended <br />D Ordinance on 15t Reading <br />D Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />D Implementing Resolution <br />D Set Public Hearing For <br /> <br />AGREEMENT AMENDMENT FOR <br />LIBRARY AUTOMATION SYSTEM <br />SERVICE AND SUPPORT <br /> <br />~tZ- <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER <br /> <br />CONTINUED TO <br /> <br />FILE NUMBER <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Approve and authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to <br />execute the attached amendment to the agreement with The Library <br />Corporation for database subscription service and maintenance in an <br />amount not to exceed $30,000 for a one year term, subject to non- <br />substantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />On June 16, 2003, the City Council approved an agreement between the City <br />of Santa Ana and The Library Corporation, Inc. to provide a library <br />automation system. The Library Corporation, Inc. has provided the <br />Library wi th a web based client server. The system offers integrated <br />library automation, which provides increased functionality for staff and <br />ease of use for patrons. <br /> <br />The amendment to the agreement includes database subscription service and <br />maintenance necessary to provide continuous uninterrupted service to the <br />Library and its patrons. This service includes telephone support, <br />licensed software updates and enhancements, staff training, online access <br />to cataloging resources, and enhanced content databases.
