Approve the attached agreement between the City and the Service <br />Employees International Union, Local 721, regarding wages, hours and <br />other terms and conditions of employment for part-time non-civil <br />service employees subject to non-substantive changes approved by the <br />City Manager and City Attorney. <br /> <br />2. Adopt a Resolution regarding salary for seasonal and other <br />unaffiliated classifications of non-civil service part-time employees. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION <br /> <br />The City and Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 721, <br />representing Part-Time Non-Civil Service employees (less than 20 hours) <br />recently completed contract negotiations, resulting in a one-year contract <br />extension (see attachment) of the existing Memorandum of Understanding <br />(MOU) , which expired on June 30, 2008. This agreement will extend the MOU <br />from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. <br /> <br />The provisions of the extended MOU are as follows: <br /> <br />1. Salary Increases: <br /> <br />October 11, 2008 <br />January 11, 2009 <br /> <br />= <br /> <br />4.0% <br />2.5% <br /> <br />2. Safety Shoes: <br /> <br />The City agrees to pay <br />$200) per fiscal year <br />the purchase of one <br />shoes/boots. <br /> <br />up to two hundred dollars <br />per affected employee, for <br />pair of approved safety <br /> <br />25N-1 <br />
