The <br />minimum required BP1IPs far this activity are outlined in the <br />box to the right Implementation of pollution <br />prevention?gaad housekeeping measJres may reduce ar <br />eliminate the need to implement ether more costly or <br />complicated procedures. In order to meet the requirements for medium and high priority facilities, the o~rrners,operators <br />must select, install and maintain appropriate Bf~~IPs an site. Since the selection of "the approprate ~P~9Ps is a <br />si#e-specific process, the types and numbers of additional Bh~1Ps tvili vary for each facility. <br />1. Property design toadinglunloadingareas toprevent storm water runon, runoff of spills, etc, <br />• Grade andlor berm the area to prevent runon. <br />Position reef downspouts to direct stormwater avray firom the area. <br />• Grade and~`or berm the laadingiunlaatlingarea to adrain that is connected to a dead-end. <br />The area where truck transfers take place should be paved. If the liquid is reactive with'the <br />asphalt, Portland cement should be used to pave the area. <br />Avoid placing loading'unlaading~reas near storm drains. <br />2. Park vehicles and conduct loadingluntoadingonly indesignated loadinglunloadingereas so <br />that spills or leaks can be contained. <br />3. Clean loadingluntoadtng areas regularly to remove potential sources of pollutants. This includes <br />outside areas that are regularly covered by containers or other materials. <br />4. Reduce exposure of materials to rain. <br />• Cover the loading!unlaadingereas. <br />• if a cover is unfeasible, use overhangs, or seals ar doer skirts to enclose areas:. <br />5.
