REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 17, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br />SECOND AMENDMENT TO AGRgEMENT FOR <br />AS -NEEDFsD PAVEMENT Es~TALUATION <br />SERVICES <br />I CITY MANAGER <br />~~ ~ l t ~ <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1S` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute a second <br />amendment to the agreement with LaBelle Marvin to provide as-needed <br />pavement evaluation services in the amount of $200,000 for a total <br />contract in the amount of $400,000 subject to non-substantive changes <br />approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In December 2007, the City Council approved a $100 million program to <br />improve streets citywide. In addition to the residential street program, <br />several arterial streets are scheduled for improvements as part of <br />2008/09 Capital Improvement Program. <br />To better assess the alternate methods for pavement rehabilitation, <br />coring and testing of existing pavement surfaces are needed. LaBelle <br />Marvin has been performing an excellent job providing these services for <br />the City. In addition to coring and testing, they will provide <br />comprehensive reports providing engineering recommendations for pavement <br />overlays and reconstruction. <br />Staff recommends an amendment to the existing contract with LaBelle <br />Marvin, for an additional $200,000 for a total contract amount of <br />$400,000. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. <br />251-1 <br />
