REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 17, 2008 <br />TITLE: <br />AGREEMENT WITH OMEGA GROUP, <br />INC.FOR PURCHASE OF THE <br />CRIMEMAPPING.COM APPLICATION <br />CI MANAGE <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1S` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached agreement with Omega Group, Inc. for the purchase of Omega's <br />CrimeView application, Crimemapping.com, and the maintenance and <br />installation of such application, for a one-year period, in an amount not <br />to exceed $30,290, subject to non-substantive changes approved by the City <br />Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On July 3, 2003, Council approved an agreement by which the City of Santa <br />Ana purchased software licenses, and maintenance for Omega's CrimeView <br />software application. Omega has recently developed a web-based version of <br />the CrimeView application, Crimemapping.com, which the City desires to <br />purchase and which Omega agrees to install and maintain. <br />CrimeView is essential to law enforcement agencies that are committed to <br />Community Oriented Policing, Problem Solving and CompStat management. This <br />application allows agencies to geographically view and analyze data from <br />their RMS (Records Management System), CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) and <br />known-offender data sets. Users can map, analyze, and report crime <br />incidents by type, proximity, or other search criteria. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds are available in the Police Department's, Computer Services account <br />(no. 11-338-6291). <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br />Paul M.
