SD-32 Trash Storage Areas <br />• Use lined lams or durnpsters to reduce leaking of liquid waste. <br />¦ Provide roofs, awnings, or attached lids on all trash containers to minimize direct <br />precipitation and prevent rainfall from entering containers. <br />¦ Pave tra;l storage areas with an impervious Surface to mitigate spills. <br />¦ Do not locate storm drains in immediate vicinity of the trash storage area. <br />¦ Post signs on all durnpsters informing users that hazardous materials are not to be disp;)sed <br />of therein. <br />Redeveloping Existing Installations <br />Various. jurisdictional stormwater management and mitigation plans (SL'SMP, WQMP, etc.) <br />define "redevelopment" in terms of amounts of additional impervious area, increases in gross <br />floor area and/or exterior construction, and land disturbing, activities with structural or <br />impervious surfaces. The definition of redevelopment" must be consulted to determine <br />whether or not the requirements for new development apply to areas intended for <br />redevelopment. If the definition applies, the steps outlined under "designing new installations„ <br />above e should be followed. <br />Additional Information <br />Maintenance Considerations <br />The integrity; of structural elements that are subject to damage (i.e., screens, covers, and signs) <br />must be. maintained by the, owwmer/operator. Maintenance agreements between the local agency <br />and the owner/operator may be required. Some agencies will require maintenance (iced <br />restrictions to be recorded of the property title.
