Description of W ork - In the space below, describe the program to be funded during the 12-month contract period. <br />What specific activities will be undertaken during the contract period. Please be concise in your response. Only the <br />viewable space will print. <br />RM LEAP offers enrichement educational programs for children, families and adults to learn in a supportive and safe <br />environment. Education offerings take the form of workshops, seminars, and classes. <br />RM LEAP offers a unique educational learning experience for children and their families in a supportive <br />environment. Program offerings are in the category of Education and take the form of workshops, seminars, and <br />classes as detailed below: <br />Current 2008: <br />• Literacy Classes: For children and adults in English and Spanish. Participants can learn how to read and write in <br />a supportive environment. <br />• Nutrition Education: Nutrition in learning and meal planning "what's for lunch" menus. Tips to prevent <br />childhood obesity. <br />• Authors: Readings by authors of children's books. <br />Beginning Fall 2008: <br />• Tutoring for Children: To help children improve reading, writing, and math achievement while receiving <br />homework assistance. <br />• Art: classes, painting, and drawing. Exhibits showcasing art created by local children in a forum to present their <br />art for appreciation by the community. <br />Schedule of Performace <br />Estimate the number of ONLY unduplicated Santa Ana residents to be served by the funded program during the 12- <br />month contract period per quarter. (Ente r number of new Santa Ana clients served each quarter.
