According to the original building permit, dated July 11, 1950, the six-room residence and garage were constructed by and for
William and Lucy Rohrbacher at a cost of $14,000. Born in 1881 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Rohrbacher and his wife moved to Santa
Ana in 1920. Upon his arrival, Rohrbacher began working as a builder. He developed a highly successful contracting company,
completing many commissions in Southern California during a nearly five-decade career, from 1920 until his retirement in circa
1969. Rohrbacher served as contractor for the Bower's Museum, constructed in 1932/33, as well as the Tehachapi Prison, Carr
Intermediate School, Phillips Hall at Santa Ana College, and the Jonas Salk School in Anaheim. Rohrbacher resided at 2475 North
Heliotrope Drive until his death in 1974 at 93 years of age.
(See Continuation Sheet 3 of 3.)
B11.
