REQUEST <br />COUNCIL <br />FOR <br />ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 5, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT - WORKFORCE <br />INVESTMENT ACT ADDITIONAL FUNDS <br />r~ <br />--~' !/f <br />-T <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1 S` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"d Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing additional revenues from <br />the State of California in the amount of $1,929 in 15o Incentive Award <br />funds and $34,260 in Rapid Response funds to be used to provide services <br />under the Workforce Investment Act. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The State of California has awarded the Santa Ana Workforce Investment <br />Board (WIB) with an Incentive Award for exceeding performance goals in <br />Program Year 2006-07. These funds will be used to cover miscellaneous <br />expenses for the WIB. <br />The State has also funded the Rapid Response program for 2008-09 which <br />provides funding to assist companies within Santa Ana who are downsizing <br />or closing their facilities. These funds will be used for staff and <br />operation costs for the Rapid Response program. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Upon approval of the appropriation adjustment, funds will be available <br />in the WIA Incentive Award account (no. 123-292-6291) and in the WIA <br />Rapid Response account (no. 123-216-6291). <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br />// ._ c /1_ it <br />Cynthia J.
