REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />JANUARY 5, 2009 <br />TITLE: <br />RENEW AGREEMENT WITH SIEMENS <br />BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES FOR <br />MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF FIRE <br />ALARM SYSTEM AT THE POLICE <br />ADMINISTRATION AND HOLDING <br />FACILITY <br />c~ v/ ~~ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />^ Ordinance on 1S` Reading <br />^ Ordinance on 2"a Reading <br />^ Implementing Resolution <br />^ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute the <br />attached renewal of the agreement with Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. <br />in an annual amount not to exceed $32,960, subject to non-substantive <br />changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Police Administration and Holding Facility is equipped with a <br />sophisticated fire monitoring and alarm system that protects the property <br />and personnel who work and visit the facility. The agreement provides for <br />annual maintenance and repair of the system, which includes materials, <br />skilled labor, technical supervision, tools, supplies, and testing <br />equipment. In addition, statutory inspections are performed in order to <br />maintain the fire alarm system in first class condition to ensure that the <br />system's operation meets all applicable laws and regulations. <br />On December 18, 2006, the City Council authorized execution of a one-year <br />agreement with two, one-year renewals to Siemens Building Technologies. <br />The vendor has performed satisfactorily during the past contract period <br />and has agreed to continue service without an increase in pricing. Staff <br />recommends exercising the second renewal of the agreement. <br />25E-1 <br />
